Digital Computer systems are changing the world and the way we conduct business and manage industrial systems specifically through powerful X86 servers and Intranets. My continuing goal is to utilize my EE and management skills in the design of digital control systems and the development of nuclear power plant systems that will contribute to the energy independence of the United States. I am continually looking for challenging design problems or leadership roles in these areas.
Current activities are focused on the design and application of secure digital computer systems for Nuclear power plant process control systems.
PCS Digital was derived from Pacific Computer Sales, Inc. (PCS) and is the corporation through which I conduct research and do consulting. PCS Digital Inc. maintains an affiliation with several consultants and vendors to obtain a larger effective corporate size. This enables us to take on larger design projects and provide turn key solutions. PCS Digital Inc. was founded in 1983 as Pacific Computer Sales, Inc. for the specific purpose of designing and manufacturing computer peripheral interfaces and controllers for OEMs. Successful products designed and manufactured by PCS included Direct Data Channel (DDC) and Optical Data Channel (ODC). My responsibilities included, but were not limited to, general corporate management, project management, OEM contract negotiations, hiring of technical personnel, direct supervision of manufacturing subcontractors and providing engineering for product support.
I enjoy working with teenagers so I decided to become a substitute teacher in the local Junior High and High schools. The subjects I am qualified to teach are Mathematics, Science and Special Education. (I hold a valid California Junior College teaching credential.)
Role limited to providing the staff with asistance in solving problems in Digital Electronics.
Carl R. Boehme & Associates, Inc. (BAI) Palo Alto, CA Sr. Consultant and President 1975-1984
BAI specialized in the development of microprocessor based digital subsystems for large scale computer systems and developed the related systems software. BAI's profitability was directly related to the highly efficient product development teams each consisting primarily of a sr. firmware programmer, a sr. Logic designer, and subcontractors for PCB layout and case design (when required). My responsibilities included, but were not limited to System design, proposal preparation, contract negotiations, hiring of technical personnel, project management, direct supervision of the development teams, system and subsystem level design and general corporate management.
Foothill College Los Altos Hills, CA Adjunct Professor 1972-1973
I taught one section of an introductory course in Digital Electronics. My class was held off campus at Lockheed's Sunnyvale facility
Xebec Systems Santa Clara, CA Staff Engineer 1973-1974
Xebec specialized in the development of tape and disk controllers for various digital computers and for personal computers. My responsibilities included, but were not limited to, design, prototype testing and production support of controller adapters for a specific mini-computers.
Singer Traffic Controls Sunnyvale, CA Engineering Manager 1972-1973
Traffic Controls specialized in the development of solid state intersection controllers. My responsibilities included, but was not limited to, proposal preparation, contract negotiations, hiring of technical personnel, project management, direct supervision of engineering teams, system and subsystem level design. I proposed and designed a digital computer based central traffic control system for the city of Pueblo , CO that became a standard product for Traffic Controls.
Singer Simulation Products Division Palo Alto/ Sunnyvale, CA Staff Engineer 1971-1973
While at Simulation Products Division I worked on the development of a state of the art simulation computer and on the design of PWR and BWR Nuclear Power Plant simulators. My responsibilities included, but were not limited to, negotiation with equipment suppliers, design and specification of the power plant simulator operators console. Installation, test and operation of the simulation computer with the simulator.
Singer Simulation Products Division Palo Alto/ Sunnyvale, CA Test Engineer 1964-1971
While at Simulation Products Division I worked on testing the prototype Mark II flight simulation computer and the Prototype GP-IV flight Simulation computer. My work on the Mark II resulted in me being assigned the responsibility of installing and maintaining the Mark II on a Space Flight simulator at the Aerospace test pilot school at Edwards Air Force base. My work on the GP-IV prototypes resulted in my being assigned the responsibility of installing four of these computers on their flight simulators at the Link plant in Binghamton, NY. And training Binghamton based test engineers in the art of debugging and troubleshooting this new generation of digital computers.
